JAC orchestrates James Horner’s score for The Karate Kid, directed by Harald Zwart.

March 2010
JAC provides arrangements of themes from James Horner’s score from Avatar for the televised production of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards.

March 2010
JAC orchestrates James Horner’s score for an airshow flying display by The Horsemen, the world's only P-51 aerobatic team.

December 2009
JAC orchestrates composer Thomas Newman’s score for The Debt, directed by John Madden.
 

November 2009
JAC finishes work on orchestrations for James Horner’s score for James Cameron’s Avatar.

December 2008
Revolutionary Road, a film by Sam Mendes, is released. JAC orchestrated the score for Thomas Newman.

November 2008
JAC composed, orchestrated and conducted the score for Pixar’s BURN-E, a short film which is released on the WALL-E DVD.

June 2008
Pixar’s WALL-E opens, directed by Andrew Stanton and featuring a score by Thomas Newman, orchestrated by JAC and Thomas Pasatieri. The score was nominated for Academy Awards in both the Best Score and Best Song categories.

 

PERFORMANCES

3 July 2010 – Tacoma, WA
Pacific Lutheran University Choral Union, led by Richard Nance, performs JAC’s Night Pieces for the 2010 National Conference of the American Harp Society.

11 & 13 June 2010 – Denver, CO
St. Martin’s Chamber Choir, under the direction of Timothy Krueger, performs What the Bird Said Early in the Year, JAC’s a cappella setting of a poem by C. S. Lewis.

1 March 2010 – Salt Lake City, UT
Utah Chamber Artists, with Music Director, Barlow Bradford, perform JAC’s Night Pieces, three nocturnes by William Wordsworth set for mixed chorus accompanied by English horn, French horn, harp, viola and cello.

21 January 2010 – New York City, NY
Joshua Bell and Sting perform JAC and Joshua’s arrangement of Come Again by Renaissance composer John Dowland for Live from Lincoln Center. The program was televised over PBS.

13 & 15 December 2009 – Kansas City, MO
Charles Bruffy and the Kansas City Chorale premiere Wake up, my spirit, JAC’s setting of Psalm 57 for mixed chorus with oboe and harp accompaniment.

10 November 2009 – Baton Rouge, LA
LSU A Cappella Choir, directed by Kenneth Fulton, performs two movements from JAC’s A Psalm Triptych.

1 November 2009 – Santa Monica, CA
Cellist Jerome Kessler and pianist Theodora Primes perform JAC’s Waltzing with Shadows at a meeting of the Los Angeles Violoncello Society.

17 October 2009 – Fullerton, CA
Alison Edwards gives the first public performance of JAC’s Phantastes, a fantasia for solo piano.



August 2009 – Incheon, South Korea
JAC’s arrangement of Down to the River to Pray is performed by Charles Bruffy and the Kansas City Chorale at the Incheon International Choral Festival.

11 May 2009 – La Mirada, CA
Via Gioiosa, a ten minute theme and variations for solo piano, is premiered at Biola University by George Boespflug, Director of Biola’s Conservatory of Music who also commissioned the work.

8 May 2009 – Santa Barbara, CA
The Westmont College Choir and Orchestra, directed by Michael Shasberger, perform Love Never Fails and JAC’s orchestral arrangement of Great Is Thy Faithfulness at Westmont’s 2009 Baccalaureate Service.

29 March/3 & 5 April 2009 – Chicago, IL
Napili Bay, 2PM, an a cappella setting of JAC’s original text, is performed by the Chicago Chamber Choir and Artistic Director Timm Adams as part of their Water Music concert series.

5, 6 & 7 December 2008 – Tacoma, WA
JAC’s cantata, Welcome All Wonders: A Christmas Celebration, is performed by the combined choirs and orchestra of Pacific Lutheran University under the direction of Richard Nance and Brian Galante.

7 December 2008 – Riverside, CA
JAC’s cantata, Welcome All Wonders: A Christmas Celebration, is performed by the Riverside Master Chorale, conducted by Karen Garrett.

16 November 2008 – Topanga, CA
arkexit, a divertimento for orchestra JAC composed in 2002, is performed by the Topanga Symphony, Jerome Kessler, conducting.

11 July/3 August 2008 – Oxford/Cambridge, UK
What the Bird Said Early in the Year, JAC’s choral setting of C. S. Lewis’ poem, is premiered in Oxford and Cambridge at the C. S. Lewis Foundation’s Oxbridge 2008 conference by the C. S. Lewis Summer Institute Chorale conducted by Stanley L. Roberts of Mercer College.

20 April 2008
Angel Parade, a two-part work JAC orchestrated for Cirque du Soleil composer Benoit Jutras is performed at the pre-Mass Concert of Hope for the Pope at Yankee Stadium.

31 December 2007/1 January 2008 – New York, NY
Joshua Bell performs two of JAC’s arrangements from his Voice of the Violin CD with Loren Maazel and the New York Philharmonic on a PBS New Year’s Eve concert at Lincoln Center.

RECORDINGS

December 2009
JAC provided string arrangements for his son Jonathan Redford’s collection of original songs, Color of My Dreams. Jonathan currently works as a host for QVC.



November 2009
Wondrous Child, a recording of Pacific Lutheran University’s 2008 Christmas concert featuring JAC’s cantata, Welcome All Wonders: A Christmas Celebration, is released.

September 2009
Sony Classical releases Joshua Bell’s At Home with Friends, a recording of duets with other artists. JAC wrote two arrangements for this CD. The first of these was John Dowland’s Elizabethan song, Come Again, which he also conducted for the recording with Joshua and Sting. This was followed by Luis Bacalov’s theme from the film Il Postino, for Joshua and bandoneon virtuoso Carel Kraayenhof. A third arrangement, O Holy Night, for Joshua and soprano Kristin Chenowith, is available as an iTunes bonus recording.



August 2009
The South Bend Chamber Singers release their Christmas CD, The World’s Desire, recorded in the Church of Loretto under the direction of Nancy Menk for the ProOrgano label. The recording features JAC’s Christmas Mourning from Welcome All Wonders: A Christmas Celebration and Glory from Shepherd Story.

March 2008
The Alphabet of Revelation is released, a CD including the title track’s meditation for piano quartet on four 20th century paintings, along with two other of JAC’s works for orchestra, October Overtures and The Ancient of Days. The CD is available for purchase at Amazon.com, as are JAC’s choral recordings, Evening Wind and Eternity Shut in a Span.

Roger Dean Publishing Company, a division of The Lorenz Corporation, publishes Of Mercy & Judgment, JAC’s setting of Psalm 101 for mixed chorus and piano. Roger Dean has previously published JAC’s choral compositions Christmas Mourning, Glory, Napili Bay 2PM, The Nativity of Christ, and Night Pieces, as well as his choral arrangement of Down to the River to Pray, and selections from In Dulci Jubilo, a suite of traditional Christmas carols for brass quintet.
