Evening Wind (2005)

Description
An a cappella setting for mixed chorus of a poem by Marjorie W. Avery. Difficulty: 4/5. Duration: 5'.

Text
Come Home
Marjorie W. Avery

Evening wind, from over the blue black darkness of the sea,
Your sighs are as a spoken word to me,
Wafted in quietness, as on a flight of angel wings,
Soft as a word whispered, caressingly, in the night,
A word from my Beloved brought by you, O evening wind.
“Come home,” I hear you whisper.
“Your Beloved calls you home.”

Evening wind, my soul has been waiting long for this great flight.
Beyond the twinkling circlet of the night,
Between portals of time and space, I go to Him.
Above the swirling breakers of the galaxies,
Crested with spume of cosmic dust,
There, at the margin of created space, my Beloved waits for me.
I see His face, and I am home at last.
